What I mean is that we really left last night.  We got out around 9:45 and drove down to Bakersfield.  We left on Friday night just to get away from the bay area.  It did feel good.  Traffic was uneventful and we pulled in at about 2am on Sat.  We stayed at the Double Tree in Bakersfield.  We felt that because we stayed there last year on the way home that we would have a good room.

This year the room was dirty and I found a bug crawling accross the night stand in the morning.  Yuck.  We won't go back there again.  I suggest you don't either.

We left Bakersfield at about 11:45 and arrived in Palm Desert at 3pm.  That made a total of 7 hours on the road to get to Palm Desert for a total of 500 miles.

We met Katherine and Eddie and the kids, Monique, and Vanessa for dinner then went back to the hotel to get ready for the ride in the morning.  We leave tomorrow with our next stop in Willcox Arizona.  No real reason for Willcox other than it is about half way from Palm Desert to Roswell.

I promise that when we get to Roswell, there will be more interesting things to read and pictures to look at.  Just keep checking back.
