Today's route
Well, we changed the stops to make the drive a little bit easier. Instead of driving all the way to Grand Island Nebraska where we will be visiting another cousin, we decided to stop in Wichita Kansas just to see what the area is like. We took all day to drive the 250 miles. We stopped many times to look at museums and other areas along the route. We even went over to Ponca City to visit the Pioneer Women museum. It had many women from Oklahoma from the time before it became a state in 1907 up to about 1999.
We also went to the Cheyenne Indian museum where they had many artifacts from early Oklahoma that depicted the settlers way of life and the relationship they had with land and native people.
We arrived in Wichita at sundown so we found a hotel and checked in. Susan wanted some Bar B Que so we asked the desk clerk where the best place in town was. He suggested a restaurant called Red Hot & Blues. They served smoked meats that hey cooked over a grill and with several different types of sauces to choose from. This was probably the best food of this type we have ever had. The advertised it as Memphis type cooking. The place is so popular that many of the great blues musicians had signed photographs on the wall.
Tomorrow on to Grand Island Nebraska
